A pheromone trap that reduces the damage caused by the plum borer
for plum trees.
The plum roundworm lays its eggs on the surface of the raw fruits. The resulting larvae hatch in a couple of weeks and burrow into the plum pulp.
In August, the larvae leave the plums and hibernate in the cracks of the tree bark.
Overwintering larvae are a treat for titmouses.
Neudomo's Plum roundworm trap attracts male plum roundworms
inside with the help of a pheromone and captures them when they grab the non-poisonous one in the trap
to the glue. Fertilization of the females is then not successful and there will be fewer plums
worms. The application has the effect of reducing the pest population.
The hook is hung on a plum tree from May to September at eye level on the side of the shelter.
The pheromone made especially for the plum wrapper does not attract bees and other beneficial insects.
